This chapter first describes events following Roxy's death, including efforts to commemorate him through film. It also presents some final thoughts. The hope here is that this book will inspire a rejuvenated focus on Roxy's multi-pronged career by scholars in cinema and media studies, musicology, performance studies, American studies, history, and numerous other fields. The Afterword also states that today's media scholars can learn much about the early development of motion pictures, broadcasting, and media convergence through his work. Roxy was part of a generational cohort that conceived of the movie theater as more than a venue for film—and radio as more than just a medium. In Roxy's eyes, the public movie theater and the private living room were fertile and transformative venues that played an indispensable role in the transformation of America and American culture.
