Letter from the Director

November 18, 2015

At Columbia University Press we are happy to launch Columbia University Press Online (CUSO) in collaboration with Oxford University Press, and to have a new and exciting channel through which the diverse array of scholarship we publish can reach scholars around the world.

The Columbia University Press list covers a wide range of fields in the humanities, the social sciences, and science. The University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) platform, with its range of modules and submodules populated by exceptional publishers and booklists, is particularly well suited to host and distribute our content. It is crucial to our mission of publishing works that contribute to an understanding of global human concerns that our books be as widely available and as accessible as possible. The UPSO platform’s wide distribution reach and commitment to discoverability will help Columbia University Press scholarship find the right readers and fulfill the Press’s mission.

We launch CUSO with four hundred monograph titles, and each year, we will add around one hundred twenty new books to our list. The depth and breadth of the Columbia University Press list will be evident from the start as our titles will initially be included in twenty of UPSO’s subject modules and 100 submodules. We could not be more excited to give librarians, scholars, and researchers around the world another way to access our books, and we are confident that CUSO will showcase the high-quality editorial, production, and scholarly work that defines our publishing program.
