To the Real World
To the Real World
This chapter recounts the different successes in the author's life running from the year he became a college student, the years of his involvement in the Officer's Candidate School (OCS) up to the time he landed a job as a broker. In 1961, the author was accepted to the University of Kentucky. There, he joined the Kappa Sigs fraternity, dated three girls and rarely went to class but still graduated with an average grade. When he graduated in August 1965, he became a member of the OCS, and eventually worked as an OCS instructor. After several years, he became a broker and made $162,000—one of the highest production figures a rookie at the firm ever did.
