Launching Tim
Launching Tim
This chapter demonstrates how Tim's father came to realise the need for integrated services led by professionals who would facilitate collaboration for housing, legal services, community services, and law enforcement for Tim. When his father was offered an out-of-state job and Tim wanted to stay in town, he made sure that Tim had what he needed to live on his own: a new caseworker from ATCMHMR, money-management skills, food shopping and preparation, and his medications. Despite these efforts, nothing worked according to plan. Tim was soon faced with a decision, either to stay in Austin with his friends and some support system but no job or housing, or return to Connecticut where he had a family, housing, and assistance but no friends.
